February gets an F in Fun

When my sister Katie was in high school we always told her she got a F in Fun....meaning she wasn't having any! It started when my parents and I picked her up from work (Media Play) one night and we were all being goofy but she wasn't having it and I think ended up yelling at us all. So instead of them punishing her she just got an F in fun, she was pretty ticked off with us all...

All that to say - February got an F in fun! So looking forward to March.

Highlights of February:
* 6 dentist visits (3 different dentists) resulting in one tooth being filled twice, much time and money wasted, still in PAIN
* upper lip waxing gone wrong- yes, I don't care if people know: I am ITALIAN! The burn only looked ridiculous for three days and no scarring
* Poop filled dog crate -D was sick and we had about 12 people coming over 20 minutes after we had gotten home. I had poop up to my elbows while Gabe was bathing the dog to remove poop from her matted fur. Did I mention the landlord came over while all this was happening to show me a leak in the basement? Yes she was able to see the poop all over the carpet and I am sure was super excited about having us as renters.
* I was in a anti-harassment video for work (I was the one being harassed) and when I got to the shoot they had a makeup artist. I smiled and said- O I actually wore makeup today for the video: End result- being ushered to a couch to get makeup applied. The guy who was doing it kindly reminded me that I DID work for a makeup company
* I have finally realized that my once thick puffy hair is now thin and lifeless.

Some fun things did occur, a few birthday celebrations with friends, tickets to a free show, movie night with a co-worker, new coffee pot, a few nice meals out, Callisto is now on sale!!, my friend and I spent hours in IKEA pretending that we lived there as we had conversation after conversation in a few different kitchens.

Here is hoping for an A in March! With all that complaining I will leave you with a few pictures of the pup bc we haven't had any nauseating "We love our dog so much" posts in a while.

CALLISTO

Gabe here, shamelessly using the blog as an outlet to plug my first editorial foray, Callisto by Torsten Krol, which goes on sale this coming Tuesday (2/17). I won't do this for every book I acquire, but this author deserves to be read. Callisto is a fantastic read--it's a dark satire with one heck of a narrator telling the story, a guy named Odell Deefus. I'm not going to give anything away, but trust me when I say this is one of the best books I've ever read. You can find it at your local B&N or Borders, and also on Amazon. If you read it and like it, write a review on Amazon. This is one of those books that is going to succeed by word-of-mouth if it succeeds at all, so spread the word! Sorry for the commercial, but I really think this author is something special. Enjoy!

Get out the way...Ole Dan Tucker

It's official~ Gabe and I are headed to Italy this year on vacation. We have been talking about it forever and finally bought our plane tickets! We leave for Venice on May 14th and will run around for two weeks. We'll stop in a few different cities and fly home from Rome on May 28th!

We are so ready for a vacation~ I just have to be patient bc I still have a few months here...Gabe and I love to travel and ever since we moved back from Scotland it seems that all of our journeys are planned around other things...family, weddings, funerals, etc...

So that is why I am singing...Get out the way Ole Dan Tucker- rap style, if only you could see the dance that goes along with it!

If you have been to Italy cast your votes here for favorite cities, hotels, restaurants that you think are a MUST. We have a good idea of what the trip will look like but would love some input.

Anyone want an apt. in NYC for two weeks? The only catch is loving on our pup, Dakota:)(ps you would have to feed and walk her)

Photo op's!

Alton is such a happy babe! I made him pose for many pictures and he happily obliged.

Brian, Alton's pops, is an artist and was chosen to do a spread in the San Fran newspaper for the Inauguration. He did a full page of "Post It's to Obama" It was fun to be able to read them and he inspired me (Brian, not Obama) to take these artistic photos:)

The pretty ladies and their babies

Pretty ladies without babies

A few with just the babes...

This photo makes me laugh, after this was taken, Hunter fell asleep in Gabes arms!

What Business is it of your's Friendo?

So...from the title you can probably tell what we have been up to! Have lots of pictures to post of the last few weeks but just have been lazy about putting them up. Last weekend was a three-dayer and we had a surprise visit from our good friends the McMullens. They moved to San Fran last year and it had been a good 7 months since we last saw them. They announced they were pregnant around the same time they announced they were moving. We lovingly refer to that move (announcing a pregnancy and a move) as "Pulling a McMullen"--it happens a bit here in the city for many different reasons but I am sure you can come up with some of your own for leaving a lovely one bedroom in the most expensive city in the US when you have a baby. But they moved for a job, Brian had an opportunity of a lifetime and couldn't pass it up....we were all excited for them but still miss them terribly! Alton, their 2 1/2 month old babe, was amazing! Our friends happen to have the cutest, sweetest babies!

So, since the whirlwind weekend of parties, babies, and talking late into the night, Gabe and I (and Dakota--she handled 30 + people in our teeny place wonderfully!)have really been taking it easy. We went to see The Wrestler yesterday, great movie, super depressing (our parents should not go see this). Then we got home and ordered some Middle Eastern food, and popped in No Country for Old Men. I had already seen this movie, loved it, but for some reason last night one of the scenes really made me feel sick. I have a super high tolerance for things, can really watch just about anything without it getting to me (not sure if this is good or bad) but last night...I made Gabe turn it off just so I could eat!

Another thing we have been doing is transferring all of our stuff from our Mac to our new PC. We really enjoyed having the mac but it decided to die on us (after eating a few cd's)and we figured we'd go back to the PC world. I liked the MAC bc it made me feel cool--many or our friends here are artists and couldn't live without the mac, but Gabe and I really just aren't that cool, so back to the wonderful world of right clicking!

The apartment needs to be cleaned and laundry needs to be done, but we are ignoring both things for a little while!
