Out with the old and in with the New

The couch has FINALLY arrived.
I feel like such an adult, our very first piece of furniture that we have purchased- brand new..it's not a hand me down, it's not used...I got to pick the fabric- Pinch me!
We are pretty happy with how it looks in our place...

Garden where you can....

So- Gabe and I aren't to handy in the garden but we have many friends here who dream of one day having a yard and growing things- pretty and tasty things! I love to enjoy the flowers and eat fresh veg but just don't have a green thumb.

The other day while walking Dakota- I noticed this pickup-

Doesn't look all that special huh?
But to my surprise- this amazingly creative NY'er planted a garden in the bed of his or her truck

Complete with cheesy lawn ornaments and farm animals!

Guess who else wanted a peek?

Gotta love the weekends away!

Gabe and I went to PA this weekend with our good friends Bryan and Crystal. Bryan's folks live in the country and they spoiled us all weekend. It was such a great time to get away with friends and be in the great outdoors.

On Saturday we went hiking at Ricketts Glen- the weather was so amazing~ Man I love FALL! We had a campfire that night with s'mores, looked at the stars (you can actually see more than the 10 we see in the city:), saw a UFO- seriously- what the heck was that, guys? Jumped on some hay bales with Bryan's nephews....Gabe took me around on the ATV but for some strange reason we always stalled coming back up the driveway- and guess who had to walk?

And then the highlight....ATE, ATE and ATE some more! WOW, Mr. Langdon is quite the chef. I am talking breakfast, lunch, and dinner- amazing food! Steak, Ribs, Blueberry Pie....my sweet husband thought he had died and gone to heaven. He started eating the leftover ribs at 11:00 the next morning! I was surprised there were any left seeing as he ate at least 2 racks the night before.

Great memories in PA with our buds! Here are a fun few shots.
This is their yard. We saw deer grazing in the morning!

US Open

Today Gabe and I were able to go to the Arthur Ashe Stadium to watch the day matches. What a fantastic time! Crystal and Bryan joined us and they were able to share a bit of the background of each of the players and for my non tennis upbringing some of the rules to the game.

I won't write too much about it bc the pictures can do the story telling...We got there at 11 and left at 5- it was truly an experience I won't soon forget!

The entrance and Gabe and I finding our seats...

The whole gang:

Then we saw the Bryan brothers win in the doubles match- they totally did a chest pump after their win- but hey...wouldn't you?

We then saw Kim Clijsters beat out Na Li. She had retired for a few years to have a baby so when they were interviewing they made a big deal of her being a working mom and that the baby just woke up from her nap...it was pretty cute. That baby has one talented mom.

Last, but certainly not least, the big surprise of the day...Andy Murray's loss to Marin Cilij. It was a pretty intense game even though Andy (number 2 in the world) didn't play that well. I think Cilij was fun to watch and he kicked AM's butt. Cilij won the first three sets so that was the match!

Some random shots....We took a walk after-wards bc the stadium is next to the World Fair ground...does this look familiar...Men in Black??

We did some other fun things this weekend- date night at Buttermilk Chanel and picnics in the Park and a full day at the beach yesterday. The only thing is we don't have any pics...and this girl is too tired to use her words. Have a great night!

Robinson Ladies

A few weeks ago the Robinson women got together for some extreme girl fun- Little Paige is only three so she didn't attend that frilly fest but next time;) Kate and Donia flew in from MN and Sue flew in from NC. We had lots planned and didn't get to squeeze it all in but these ladies did a fantastic job- venturing on the subway alone and then walking their socks of in our crazy city. NY really is such a fun city for kids and I am really glad that they made the trek.

We ate at some fun places (Mesa Grill, Alice's Tea Cup), got dessert in a few others (Chelsea Market, Mister Softie), and of course saw some sites. Kate just turned 9 so when I say sites I mean- Fao Shwartz, American Girls store, Dylan's candy bar but to be honest these are all fantastic stops for adults too! Ok to be honest if you don't have a daughter you prob's won't enjoy American Girls but all the other stops I promise! We spent the morning walking around the Statue of Liberty and trekking around Eilis Island. We also ate the biggest bagels Kate has ever seen;) Had a little birthday for Kate and Donia and the highlight, a treat from Sue, was going to see The Lion King- think we were all pretty excited about it and it was terrific- Gabe got to come along for that too!

We ate some good meals at home too and spent the evenings playing games and catching up. It was quite the full house and Dakota sure loved all the attention. Here are some pictures of our lovely weekend!

Oldies and Goodies!

This past weekend I took the bus to DC to meet up with my college roomates. Kelli lives in MD and Sara VA and we had decided to spend the weekend at Sara's beautiful home in VA for the weekend. I hate being so far away from my bestest girls (nothing like time together doing nothing)!

The bus ride is not fun, I may be getting to old for the ole' Greyhound.I kept wishing I had a car, but alas, it was a cheap and somewhat easy way to get there. You do have to stand in a massive line in Port Authority and the seats are first come first serve so you are hoping the whole time that you get a seat in the front. And I totally scored! Good seat, good seat mate, and some good tunes on the ipod!

I always start getting antsy when I get closer and was anxious to meet Kelli at the subway station. We were going to take the Metro (we should totally refer to our trains as Metro's sounds cooler to me:)towards Sara's house and she was going to pick us up from there. Well wouldn't you know Sara called to say that Kelli had just called and was super sick so wasn't going to be able to make it Friday night. POOP, that totally stunk and Kels was really sick (flu, of the swine nature). Sara gave me the directions from the bus to the metro and then what lines I needed to take- phew! I did wish my best map was with me (his name is Gabe).

Finally met up with Sara and we had some good food at TGIF- I told her I was craving chain food and the place she wanted to take me had a really long wait;) Then we went back to her house. We ended up sitting on the bed for hours just talking. At 11:30 we decided to go outside and make s'mores- by 1- we were ready for bed!!

My sweet Sara then wanted to start our Saturday off with a dance/aerobics class. It's called Kukuwa and it's a form of African dance, latin dance and Caribbean dance. Sara is a dancer and the size of my pinky...I am out of shape and can't shake my hips to save the world. (do you guys notice a trend though- every time I am out of town people want me to run or workout- God is trying to tell me something!) I was excited about the class bc I thought Kelli and I could stand at the back and just kind of laugh at ourselves. But Kels wasn't there and so I let the workout kick my butt- It was so much fun and such a terrific workout. The thing is that the routines for each song are a bit tricky, I surprised myself with picking those up fairly easily- the bad thing was that it was supposed to 'look' a certain way and I looked like a big heavy footed elephant...I didn't let it stop me though.

After the fall!

Then the rest of Saturday we did things like- target, drank milkshakes at a cool little deli, furniture store (Sara, and her sister in law Courtney, were so good to me and helped me pick out fabric for our NEW couch!!!), grocery store- I LOVE the simplicity that cars and shopping centers offer. Then Sara made us dinner and dessert (AMAZING- pizza on the outdoor grill) and we capped the night sitting on the couch talking again till the wee hours of the night. The weekend was perfect although we both missed Kelli terribly.
Dinner~

Sometimes I just need weekends with my girls! I truly felt like I was on vacation. The bed was so cozy with the softest sheets (I am such a sucker), Sara wouldn't let me help cook at all, great food with great girls!
